Joseph Weber is an associate professor at the University of Nebraska.[1]

Weber was previously domestic chief of correspondents for BusinessWeek and was based in Chicago.[2] Previously, he was bureau chief in Chicago.[3] Weber joined the magazine in 1987 as a correspondent in Dallas.


While Chicago bureau chief, he managed the Chicago reporting staff. He also later had a hand in the editorial operations of BusinessWeek Chicago, a short-lived monthly edition of Business Week focused on the Chicago area.[4] Michael Arndt served as BusinessWeek Chicago editor and continues to work as a senior correspondent for BusinessWeek in the wake of BusinessWeek Chicago's run.[5]

In addition to working with BusinessWeek's operations in Chicago and Dallas, Weber served in the publications Philadelphia and Toronto bureaus.[6]

He was Philadelphia bureau manager from January of 1988 until August of 1997. He subsequently managed Business Week's Canadian coverage from Toronto until December of 1999.[7]

In the course of his career Weber has received journalism awards including an Excellence in Financial Journalism Award from the New York State Society of CPAs, two Peter Lisagor Awards from the Headline Club of Chicago and a Distinguished Editorial Achievement Award from McGraw-Hill.


Weber is a graduate of Rutgers University and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.[8]
